DOWNTOWN — The West Grand Avenue Bridge over the Chicago River was closed Monday night for emergency repairs, according to the Chicago Department of Transportation.

The bridge — at the north branch of the river — closed at 7 p.m. and will remain closed for two weeks as emergency repairs are made to the structure.

The repair work will "replace steel components" on the bridge's four corners and cannot be undertaken without closing the bridge to all traffic, according to the city.

Information on detour routes can be found here.

The bridge is scheduled to reopen Oct. 7.
