Community Alert Issued for Chicago Lawn

CHICAGO — A community alert has been issued for Chicago Lawn after at least two robberies took place in the area this month.

In both incidents, a robber physically attacked victims and stole their cell phones, police said.

The incidents occurred in the 6400 block of South Western Avenue about 8:15 p.m. on Sept. 15 and in the 6500 block of South Western Avenue about 3:40 a.m. on Sept. 19.

According to police, "offender descriptions vary," but the robber is described as a black male, 5-feet-2 to 6-feet, 120 to 180 pounds, between 16 and 20 years old.

Chicago Lawn residents are urged to be aware of their surroundings and report any suspicious activity to police at 312-747-8380.
