CHICAGO — The bodies of two people found in a burning vehicle in a suburban forest preserve are thought to be a mother and daughter from Chicago, authorities said.
Authorities have not released the identities of the women, who were found in the trunk of PT Cruiser in the Cap Sauers Holdings Forest Preserve in Palos Park at about 11:45 Saturday night. A sheriff's office spokesman said one woman was in her 70s, and the other in her 50s.
On Sunday night, the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office had no information about the identities of the women. Autopsies conducted earlier in the day determined they had been strangled. Their deaths are being called homicides.
