Midnight Circus

WICKER PARK —  It's another big weekend of events in the vicinity of Wicker Park and Bucktown.

Here's the highlights:

Friday

7 to 9 p.m.  Elke Walter Pop Up Shop.  A fashion designer kicks off a five-day sale with a trunk show featuring apparel from her ''Essentials'' line.  Pavilion Antiques, 2055 N. Damen Ave., in Bucktown.

7 p.m.  Circus in Holstein Park. The Chicago Park District's "Midnight Circus" kicks off a weekend of performances. Tickets (available here) are $15 for children ages 2 to 18; $20 for adults. Holstein Park, 2200 N. Oakley Ave., in Bucktown.

6 to 9 p.m. Art Opening: "Wicker Park After Dark."  A solo exhibit showcasing photographs by David Szpunar was inspired by Brassai's “Paris by Night,” which captures the energy and mystery of revelers. Jackson Junge Gallery, 1389 N. Milwaukee Ave., in Wicker Park.

8:30 p.mOccupy Chicago Anti-Fascist Friday.  Demonstrators plan to protest United States' involvement in Syria using pots and pans to make some noise around a historic park's fountain.  Wicker Park, 1425 N. Damen Ave. in Wicker Park.

10 p.m.    Grazyna Augsick Performance.  A renowned Polish jazz vocalist headlines a special concert for the general public and guests from the Chicago Music Summit.  Chopin Theatre, 1543 W. Division St. in Wicker Park.

Saturday

11 a.m. to 10 p.m.  Food Truck Social. Take in food from over 25 food trucks and restaurants as well as live music at this social, organized by the West Town Chamber of Commerce. Cost is $5. Kendell College, 900 N. Branch St. in River West.

11 a.m. to 1 p.m.  ''Take Control of Your Life'' Karma Workshop.  A Buddhist center puts karma in the spotlight.  Led by instructor Gen Kelsang Dorje, the cost of the session is $15.  VKBC Annex, 2010 W. Pierce Ave., in Wicker Park.

11 a.m. to 5 p.m.   The Nosh, a weekly artisan food festival, lands in the parking lot of Pritzker School in Wicker Park and offers sandwiches, lobster rolls, tamales, sweets, cold soups and more.  Pritzker School, 2009 W. Schiller St. Free.

Noon to 6 p.m.  Moonshine's Rib-a-Que Smokeout. Amateur and pro BBQ chefs from several restaurants will compete against each other to win the coveted "gilded grill trophy" and cash prizes.  Tickets (includes a sampling from all the contestants, plus one side dish) are $25 in advance and $35 at the door.  Moonshine, 1824 W. Wabansia Ave., in Wicker Park.

2 p.m.; 5 p.m.  Circus in Holstein Park.  The Chicago Park District's "Midnight Circus" kicks off a weekend of performances. Tickets (purchase here) are $15 for children ages 2 to 18; $20 for adults. Holstein Park, 2200 N. Oakley Ave., in Bucktown.

4 to 8 p.m. The 606 Pub Crawl.  Drink your way along the Bloomingdale Trail at a 5-stop pub crawl. A $25 donation is suggested, and there will be discounted food and drink specials. Bucktown Pub, 1658 W. Cortland Ave., in Bucktown.

Sunday

8 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Wicker Park Farmers Market.  Go early for the best picks (like Chef Rick Bayless did recently when he tweeted a video of his "phenomenal haul" from the market), which features several vendors offering fresh fruits and vegetables, meats, cheeses, pasta, flowers and crepes. The market is located at 1501 N. Damen Ave.

1 p.m; 4 p.m.  Circus in Holstein Park.
