Austin Man Shot in Chest in August Dies

CHICAGO — A West Side man died weeks after being shot in Austin, officials said Wedneday.

Lamarius Tatum, 23, of the 900 block of North Laramie Avenue, was pronounced dead at Loyola University Medical Center at 6:23 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Tatum was shot in his chest about 11:30 p.m. Aug. 8 in the 1100 block of North Waller Avenue, police said.

He was rushed to Loyola in critical condition, where he had remained since the shooting, officials said.

Eight others were wounded by gunfire the day that Tatum was shot.
