LAKEVIEW — Beer, brats and a roasted pig — fall's in the air, and Lakeview's got two Oktoberfest celebrations to rock it German-style.

St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, 1429 W. Wellington Ave., will host its annual three-day fest from Sept. 27-29 at Southport and Lincoln with live music and a "Kinderfest" with activities for the children.

New to this year's fest: a craft beer tasting night on Sept. 27, with 20 beers, a souvenir tasting glass and necklace made out of pretzels. Tickets for the tasting cost $30, and only 500 will be sold.

Tickets to the general festival cost $5, and proceeds go to the church. The full musical lineup for the festival can be seen here.

Closer to the lake, East Lake View Neighbors will be roasting a whole hog at Murphy's Bleachers, 3655 N. Sheffield Ave., at an Oktoberfest party from 3-7 p.m Sept. 29. for its annual fundraiser for local charities.

The $25 ticket includes Oktoberfest beer, wine, a taste of the hog, grilled chicken, brats, veggies and dessert. Oktoberfest revelers will also be entered into a drawing for $500 and can bid in the silent auction on items like a hockey stick signed by the Blackhawks

Proceeds will go to the neighbors group, the House of Good Shepherd, Gill's Park youth programs, Inter-American Elementary, Greeley Elementary and the Lakeview Pantry.
