CHICAGO — A 19-year-old Woodlawn man was arrested and charged after he lied to police about how he was shot in his hand on Saturday, police said.

Jalen Minor was charged with felony disorderly conduct for filing a false police report, according to Officer Michael Sullivan, a Chicago Police Department spokesman.

Minor told police someone shot him about 9:50 p.m. Saturday in the 6800 block of South Champlain Avenue, the same block he lives on, Sullivan said. He told cops someone in a white car fired shots and hit him in his right hand, police said.

Minor was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he eventually admitted he'd shot himself, Sullivan said. Police also found a shell casing inside Minor's home, Sullivan said.
