Firefighter Hurt While Battling East Side Blaze

CHICAGO — A firefighter was hurt while battling a blaze in an East Side building Monday morning, authorities said.

The fire started in the 10500 block of South Ewing Avenue about 7 a.m., according to the Chicago Fire Department.

The fire was out by about 7:15 a.m., the fire department said.

A firefighter suffered heat exhaustion and was taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital in good condition, according to fire department spokesman Juan Hernandez.
