CHICAGO — A man tried to lure a 14-year-old girl into his car on the South Side Wednesday night, police said in a community alert.

The girl was walking south on Wood Street from Archer Avenue in McKinley Park about 6:15 p.m. when a man pulled his car alongside her, according to the alert.

The man then started talking to her and asked for her phone number and address, according to police.

The girl walked away, but the man continued to follow her in the car and tried to talk to her several times in the course of several blocks.

He repeatedly offered her a ride, asked her to kiss him and offered to teach her about sex, according to the alert.

The girl ran to a nearby fire station and got help from the fire department, according to police.

The man is described as Hispanic, 20 to 30 years old with short black hair and facial hair, but no mustache. His ears and lower right lip are pierced, and he has a rectangular tattoo on his right forearm with some green ink, according to the alert. He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt with "Sons of Anarchy" written on it and khaki shorts.

He was driving a silver four-door car that might have been a Chevy Malibu, a Toyota Camry or Toyota Corolla.

Police asked anyone with information to call 312-747-8380.
