CHICAGO — The fire department responded to a call of a kayaker in the lake near Jackson Park but turned up nothing Tuesday night, officials said.

Crews responded to the call at 6501 S. Promontory Drive about 7:50 p.m., according to spokesman Will Knight.

But responders returned about 8:45 p.m without making a rescue, Knight said.
