COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — A Colorado man faces multiple sexual assault charges after driving to Chicago and allegedly having sex with a 15-year-old girl at a Downtown hotel — and then sending an email apology to her family.

Christopher Plouffe, 31, met the Chicago teenager on an online gaming site, Assistant State's Attorney Heather Kent said.

At first, their conversations focused on the game, Kent said. But before long, Plouffe and the girl were texting and video-chatting. Plouffe knew the girl was 15, and she knew he was 30, Kent said.

In late 2011, he began asking the teen to perform sex acts on herself on camera, Kent said. Plouffe would masturbate while watching, prosecutors said.

In February 2012, Plouffe traveled to Chicago and booked a room at the Silversmith Hotel and Suites in Downtown Chicago, Kent said. The teen joined him there, and over the course of two days, they allegedly had sex multiple times.

Plouffe emailed an apology to the teen's family, Kent said.

On Aug. 6, he was arrested in Colorado.

Plouffe appeared in Cook County bond court Thursday.

In noting his criminal record, prosecutors listed Plouffe's conviction for "malicious mischief" in Washington state.

Judge Adam Bourgeois Jr. set Plouffe's bond at $1 million.
