CHICAGO — A man wounded his 55-year-old neighbor with a chainsaw after a dispute in Washington Heights early Tuesday, police said.

The men had been drinking in a backyard in the 1000 block of West 103rd Street when they began arguing about 1:50 a.m., said Officer Michael Sullivan, a Chicago Police Department spokesman.

One man picked up a chainsaw and cut the other's hand. The victim's fingers were cut — but not severed — and he was stabilized at Advocate Christ Medical Center, Sullivan said.

No one was in custody Tuesday morning.
