CHICAGO — A baby gorilla injured in February will return for public viewing at Lincoln Park Zoo Thursday, zoo officials say.

Nayembi, a 9-month-old western lowland gorilla, underwent surgery for a facial injury she suffered while in her habitat with other gorillas in February.

Nayembi spent five months in recovery before being reunited with her mother Rollie in July. She was reunited with her father Kwan Wednesday, said Sharon Dewar, zoo spokeswoman.

"They’ve had time to get acquainted ... and everything went well," Dewar said.

Nayembi also lives with 10-month-old playmate Patty and Patty's mother Bana. Zoo visitors can see Nayembi starting at 1 p.m. Thursday in Regenstein Center for African Apes, Dewar said.
