Police Report Recent Increase in Robberies in South Shore

CHICAGO — There has been a recent increase in robberies in South Shore, according to a Chicago Police Department community alert.

Police said the thieves displayed handguns during the robberies, which took place in area between 72nd and 73rd streets and Yates Boulevard and Exchange Avenue. In one instance, the robber fled in a silver Dodge Avenger; in another, a black Toyota Tundra with partial Illinois license places (#879) was used to flee. 

The robbers are described as a 20- to 25-year-old woman and a black 19- to 30-year-old man with a mustache and goatee who is 5-foot-6 and 170 pounds.
