CHICAGO — A female CTA worker was attacked by a man while she was working at the Chicago Avenue station in West Town Wednesday morning, police said.

The 47-year-old worker was on the Blue Line "L" platform at the Chicago Avenue station, 800 N. Milwaukee Ave., about 5 a.m. when a man came up and began attacking her, said Officer John Mirabelli, a police spokesman.

He then ran off from the station, and police do not have anyone in custody, Mirabelli said. The woman did not suffer life threatening injuries and was apparently not taken by authorities to a hospital, Mirabelli said.

The attacker was described by police as a black man with a dark complexion, 28 to 32 years old, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-11 and weighing 170 to 200 pounds. He had an afro hairstyle and was wearing a white tank top with dirty blue jeans, Mirabelli said.
