ROSCOE VILLAGE — Would you know gang activity if you saw it? Do you know if your block sits inside gang territory? And if so, which one?

A four-week course in gang awareness has been designed to inform residents of the Town Hall (19th) and Foster (20th) police districts not only about gang issues in their neighborhoods but about gang culture in general.

The weekly seminars, which run from 6:30-9 p.m., will address topics including gang factions, colors, geography and graffiti.

This four-week course will be held on Thursdays from Oct. 3-24 at DeVry University, 3300 N. Campbell Ave. Attendance is required at each class.

To register, email Lori.trier@cookcountyil.gov or call 773-334-4066 by Sept. 20. Attendees must be 21 years of age or older and present a driver's license or state ID at sign-in.

The gang awareness seminar is presented by Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez and the Chicago Police Department.
