CHICAGO — A man was pinned inside his vehicle after it was hit by a Metra Train Friday night, officials said.

The 30-year-old man's car was hit by a train on the Rock Island Line about 7:30 p.m. in the 1800 block of West 119th Street in Morgan Park, fire officials said.

He was briefly pinned inside before being rescued by fire crews.

The man was rushed to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious-to-critical condition with a head injury. His condition later stabilized, officials said.

Outbound trains toward Joliet from the LaSalle Street Station had delays of 10 to 25 minutes as of about 8 p.m., according to Metra.
