Woman Escapes Kidnapping Attempt in Irving Park, Police Say

CHICAGO — Police are looking for a man they believe tried to drag a woman into his car in Irving Park Monday evening.

The incident occurred about 6 p.m. when a 33-year-old woman was walking near Elston Avenue and Pulaski Road.

A man in a red car called out to her, before slowing down and following her, police said.

The man got out and grabbed the woman while they were in the 4300 block of North Pulaski. After grabbing her by the arm, he unsuccessfully tried to drag her to the car.

The man is believed to be Hispanic or Indian, 48 to 55 years old, 5-foot-9 or 5-foot-10. He had black hair and was wearing a red shirt. He had a large scar on his nose.
