Seven Shot Friday Night and Saturday Leaving One Man in Critical Condition

CHICAGO— At least seven people were wounded in shootings Friday night and Saturday morning.

In the most recent shooting, a 20-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound to the thigh near the intersection of East 92nd Street and South Constance Avenue, said Officer Daniel O'Brien, a police spokesman. He was taken in good condition to Advocate Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, he said. At least eight bullet holes could be seen in a red Pontiac in which the man was riding.

At about 12:30 p.m., a 26-year-old man was shot in the arm in the 5500 block of South Damen Avenue, said Officer Jose Estrada, a police spokesman. The man was in good condition and was being treated at the scene and no one is in custody, he said.

At 5:45 Saturday morning, a woman was dropped off at Stroger Hospital after being shot in the buttocks. Police said the 23-year-old woman is listed in serious condition and was being uncooperative.

Earlier Saturday, a 32-year-old man drove himself to Mt. Sinai Hospital after he was shot in the back and chin while in his car in the 7000 block of South Wolcott Street around 2:15 a.m., said Estrada. The man is in critical condition.

About an hour earlier, 19-year-old man was shot in Humboldt Park. The shooting occurred in the 1400 block of North St. Louis Avenue around 1 a.m. The man was shot in his foot and taken to Norwegian American Hospital in good condition, police said. No one is in custody.

At about 11:30 p.m. Friday, a man was shot in the 9000 block of South Escanaba Avenue. The 21-year-old was shot in the hip and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, police said.

About an hour earlier a 19-year-old man was shot in the chest in the 3500 block of West Douglas Boulevard. He was shot about 10:30 p.m. and listed in serious condition, police said.

Four other people were injured in shootings Friday afternoon.
