CHICAGO — The mother of a 3-month-old girl pronounced dead Monday is being investigated for neglect of the infant, authorities said.

Geidyln Bates was found unresponsive in her home in the 6000 block of West Addison Street in Portage Park, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Bates was pronounced dead about 6 p.m. Monday at Our Lady of Resurrection Medical Center, according to the medical examiner's office.

The Department of Children and Family Services is investigating the infant's mother for neglect in connection with her death, said Dave Clarkin, DCFS spokesman.

No other children were in the home, Clarkin said.
