CHICAGO — Two women were hospitalized after a pepper spray attack ended in them crashing their car in Logan Square Sunday morning, police said.

The incident occurred around 5 a.m. in the 3700 block of West Belden Avenue when the two women were in a parked car arguing with four other people — two women and two men — outside of the vehicle, said Officer Jose Estrada, a police spokesman.

One of those people attacked the women with pepper spray, Estrada said.

The car tried to speed away, but as it was fleeing, it crashed into two parked cars.

A 27-year-old woman was sent to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition while a woman in her early 20s was sent to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in critical condition.

No one is in custody.
