HYDE PARK — The Court Theatre will perform “Tartuffe” on Wednesday and Thursday for free.
Director Charles Newell has updated the classic comedy by Moliere to reflect the class struggles of Chicago’s South Side.
Performances at the South Shore Cultural Center, 7059 S. South Shore Drive, will start at 7 p.m. and tell the story of Tartuffe, an imposter who insinuates himself into a well-to-do family’s home, throwing it into chaos.
The comedy about the art of deception and the price of misplaced faith is part of the Chicago Park District’s Night Out in the Parks initiative.
“Tartuffe” returns to the Court Theatre, 5535 S. Ellis Ave., for two encore performances on Saturday and Sunday.
