COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — A South Shore man was arrested Thursday after he stole an Audi, smashed into a parked car and tried to bury evidence in the dirt, prosecutors said.

Just before 8 p.m. Wednesday, a 32-year-old man pulled up to the 500 block of West Grand Avenue and hopped out of his car — a black 2010 Audi S4 — according to a police report.

As the man searched for a valet attendant — his car unlocked, its engine running — two men jumped into the Audi and sped away, striking a parked car as they went.

The car's owner had left his iPhone 5 in the car before it was stolen, the police report said. Using the "Find My iPhone" app, Grand Crossing police were able to track the Audi to the 6900 block of South Indiana Avenue.
