CHICAGO — A man is dead after what police call a domestic-related incident in Austin Friday morning.

Two men were stabbed about 4:10 a.m. at an apartment building with a courtyard in the 700 block of North Central Avenue, said Officer Hector Alfaro, a police spokesman.

A 24-year-old man was stabbed in his chest and was pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital. He was identified as Tommie Bates, of the 5900 block of West Iowa Street, the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said.

The second victim, whose age wasn't provided, was taken to West Suburban Hospital. Police didn't have information on his condition.

A couple hours after the stabbings, police remained at the cordoned-off courtyard, where bloody and dried up footprints could be seen.
