Four Wounded In South Side Shootings Wednesday Evening

ENGLEWOOD — Four people were wounded in separate shootings on the South Side Wednesday afternoon and night, police said.

The most recent occurred in South Shore in the 1800 block of East 79th Street at 9:30 p.m., said Officer Jose Estrada, a police spokesman.

A 19-year-old was standing in a parking lot when someone approached and fired several times in his direction.

The man was shot in his buttocks, legs and abdomen. He was taken to Stroger Hospital.

A man in his 20s was shot twice about 9:10 p.m. in the Woodlawn neighborhood Wednesday, police said.

The man was standing in the 6200 block of South Eberhart Avenue when a gunman approached him on foot and opened fire, said Officer Hector Alfaro, a police spokesman.

The man was hit in his right leg and left foot and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition.

About 5:25 p.m., a 52-year-old woman was shot in the South Shore neighborhood. The woman was shot in her arm in the 2700 block of East 79th Street, said Officer Daniel O'Brien, a police spokesman.

The woman was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in good condition, O'Brien said.

A 26-year-old man was hospitalized after a shooting in the Englewood neighborhood Wednesday afternoon, police said.

The man was shot in his left shoulder about 3:55 p.m in the 6900 block of South Sangamon Street, said Officer Veejay Zala, a police spokesman. He was taken to St. Bernard Hospital where his condition stabilized, Zala said.
