BRIDGEPORT — The campaign to bring breakfast barbecue diner food to the neighborhood begins now.
Neller Hamlin and Leo Polanco have launched their crowdfunding effort to make RaeAnne’s Breakfast & BBQ a reality.
The couple have been scouting real estate in Bridgeport and have the restaurant planned down to the very last detail — they say RaeAnne's would be a 24-hour, 1950s-style diner stocked with nostalgic kitsch and serving breakfast, baked goods and barbecue all day long. A preliminary version of the menu can be found at their website.
But they need $75,000 to make it happen.
For that, they’re turning to the crowdfunding website Indiegogo, offering contributors to their project a wide range of prizes for donating money — 10 bucks gets you a shout-out on social media, $5,000 gets you a barbecue buffet for 25, a private cooking class and drinks for 10 plus an invitation to a special barbecue and burlesque show.
The fundraising campaign wraps up Aug. 5.
