CHICAGO — An Indiana woman was arrested Friday morning when a handgun loaded with seven bullets was discovered at a Daley Center security checkpoint, authorities said.
Ana Claudia Gomez, 38, was in town to help her father with issues regarding an eviction, the Cook County Sheriff's Office said.
While being screened on the first floor of the government complex, deputies found a semi-automatic 9mm handgun in Gomez's purse, according to the sheriff's office. It was loaded with seven bullets, including three hollow-point ones.
Gomez, of Whiting, is licensed to carry in Indiana and allegedly told police she forgot she had the gun in her purse.
Charged with unlawful use of a weapon, Gomez appeared in bond court Saturday. Her bond was set at $25,000, and she has since posted bail.
