CHICAGO — A 29-year-old man is in critical condition after he was stabbed in Austin late Sunday.

According to Sgt. Al Stinites, a police spokesman, the victim got into a heated argument with another man about 11 p.m. Sunday.

As the 29-year-old man tried to flee through a gangway in the 5900 block of West Iowa Street, the second man chased him with a knife.

The victim was stabbed in his back and upper right chest, Stinites said, and taken to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park. As of Monday morning, the man was still listed in critical condition.

It appears the two men knew each other, Stinites said, but no one is in custody.
