CHICAGO — The Chicago Fire Department said six barrels found in a parking lot on the Northwest Side do not contain anything hazardous.

The fire department tweeted that it was responding to a hazardous materials call at 5900 W. Irving Park, where the 55-gallon barrels were found shortly after 11:30 a.m.

The fire department later tweeted that the substance inside the barrels was not hazardous, but that firefighters were removing them anyway.

Neighbors said the barrels had been there for about a week, the fire department tweeted.
