CHICAGO — Patrick Kane and the scene-stealing Stanley Cup were each doused in water after appearing on David Letterman's show in New York City Wednesday night.

After getting smudged and kissed by thousands of fans during the much-hyped Chicago tour that began just hours after the Blackhawks beat the Boston Bruins, the Cup, perhaps, needed a shower.

Kane also posted photos of the hosing to his Twitter account, where he lamented not bringing an umbrella for him and Stanley.

On the CBS show, Kane called the cup "the coolest trophy in sports."

While the cup weighs 35 pounds, Kane said, "it feels like nothing when you're lifting it on the ice."

Kane said that when the team won the NHL championship three years ago, he took the cup to a Jimmy Buffett concert.

The Hawks star noted that Buffett is playing in Chicago again on Saturday.

The cup, he hinted, "might have to make a return," Kane said.
