Cops Shoot Man Who Fired Gun, Police Say

CHICAGO — Officers shot a man who was firing a gun at cops on the Far South Side early Wednesday, police said.

Cops were on patrol in the 9100 block of South Marshfield Avenue in Washington Heights about 12:10 a.m. when they heard someone firing shots, police said in a statement.

The officers then saw a man running through a nearby alley and chased after him to the 9200 block of South Justine Street, according to the statement.

During the chase, the man took out a gun and began firing shots at the officers, according to police. Cops fired back and shot the man, police said.

The man was eventually arrested and taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the statement. A gun was recovered, cops said. No police were injured.
