CHICAGO — An officer was badly hurt after a garbage truck collided with his squad car in Back of the Yards Tuesday night, police said.
The crash happened in the 4300 block of South Ashland Avenue about 9:15 p.m., said Officer John Mirabelli, a police spokesman.
The officer was pinned in his car and was initially in serious condition, Mirabelli said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition stabilized, and his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, Mirabelli said.
