CHICAGO — Thieves are stealing parts from cars in North Lawndale, Chicago Police said.

Catalytic converters, a car part which controls vehicle emissions, have been stolen from six vehicles: three Honda CRVs, two Jeep Cherokees and one Toyota pickup, according to a community alert.

Catalytic converters are a frequent target of thieves because they are often made of precious metals including platinum.

Police do not have a description of any suspects.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Bureau of Detectives at 312-747-8380.
