CHICAGO — Five men were shot in the city Wednesday afternoon, police said.
In New City, a man in his 50s was shot in his jaw and leg about 2:44 p.m. in the 5400 block of South Damen Avenue, said Officer Daniel O'Brien, a Chicago Police Department spokesman.
In North Lawndale, an 18-year-old man was shot in his leg about 2 p.m. while in the 1400 block of South Spaulding Avenue, O'Brien said. He was in "stable" condition at Mount Sinai Hospital.
In Greater Grand Crossing, a 25-year-old man was shot in his back at 1:40 p.m. in the 7400 block of South Stewart Avenue, O'Brien said. He was taken to John H. Stroger Hospital in critical condition.
In the same neighborhood about 12:35 p.m., a man was shot in his left arm near 68th Street and Wentworth Avenue, police said. He drove to St. Bernard Hospital, where he was in "stable" condition, police said.
Earlier, a 19-year-old man was shot in the head in Roseland, cops said. He was shot in the 10900 block of South Perry Avenue sometime before 12:15 p.m., said Officer Jose Estrada, a Police Department spokesman.
He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition, Estrada said, citing preliminary information.
No one was in custody.
