CHICAGO — Have you ever wanted to say "I just blue myself"?

The famed monochromatic, drumming theatrical group known as the Blue Man Group is holding open casting calls at its Chicago home, the Briar Street Theatre, in Lakeview.

The auditions will take place at the theater, 3133 N. Halsted St., from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on July 9.

"Blue Man is an egoless, genderless being," with both men and women being encouraged to try out, according to the organization.

Solid drumming and acting skills are a must, and prospective performers should be 5-foot-10 to 6-foot-1 tall.

Baldness doesn't seem to be a requirement.

If cast, performers will perform in one of the troupe's nine productions in Chicago, New York, Boston, Las Vegas, Orlando, Berlin, Australia, Brazil or on tour throughout the United States.

The show began in 1987 and was also popularized in the show Arrested Development, in which character Tobias Fünke's dreams of joining the group were repeatedly denied.

Ahead of a performance at the Chicago Theatre this month, David Cross, the actor who plays Tobias, admitted that "I've never seen a full show. I've never even seen a half a show or a quarter of a show."
