CHICAGO — The city announced the 14 food trucks that will serve up grub for the first time at the Taste of Chicago.
Up to seven trucks will be featured each evening during the Taste's run from July 10 to July 14 in Grant Park.
“Taste of Chicago was created to showcase the city’s culinary scene and food trucks are now a vibrant part of that scene,” Mayor Rahm Emanuel said in a statement. “It’s only natural that the trucks join in on the premier food event of summer. We are excited that Taste continues to evolve.”
Trucks will begin selling at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10 through Saturday, July 13, and at 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 14 and continue through evening concerts. They'll be parked near the Petrillo Music Shell.
The food trucks will have to ante up a higher percentage of their Taste earnings than the brick-and-mortar restaurants at the event, and not all are licensed to cook onboard.
The Salsa Truck, the city's first truck with such a licence, will be at both the Taste and this year's Lollapalooza.
