PILSEN — A free trolley is set to run up and down 18th Street for 2nd Fridays, Pilsen's monthly artwalk, starting this week.

Sponsored by the Greater Pilsen Economic Development Association, the trolley will make stops at more than 25 participating businesses — like Modern Cooperative, Comet Vintage and Dia de los Tamales — along 18th Street and stretching into the greater Pilsen area.

Trolley hours are 6 to 10 p.m.

Passengers will also receive goody bags, raffle tickets and free churros while supplies last.

Tiffany Paige, co-owner of Modern Cooperative, which sells reclaimed furniture, helped orchestrate the trolley. She said the goal is to keep them throughout the summer on 2nd Fridays

“As a small business community, we’re very tight knit and we feel we have a lot to offer,” she said. “We want to get people to come down and be aware of Pilsen and everything we have going on here.”

Tamale perfume connoisseur and bike tour extraordinaire Zorayda Ortiz will also be aboard the trolley to impart her knowledge of Pilsen's many murals.

Ortiz "is like the expert on Pilsen. It’s awesome,” Paige said.

Greater Pilsen will be live tweeting the trolley’s location throughout the night.
