Missing 12-Year-Old Boy Who Left Home Looking for His Bike is Home Safe

UPDATE: Police said the boy returned home safe.

CHICAGO — Police said a boy who went missing near his West Side home after going out in search of his stolen bike June 9 came home safe the next day.

Hector Roman, 12, was last seen near his home in the 3900 block of West Potomac Avenue about 12:30 p.m. that day, according to a statement from police.

The boy said he was going out to look for his bike, which had been stolen the day before, according to the statement.

Previous reports indicated Hector had also gone missing in May 2011 but was found.

Police said he later returned safe.
