CHICAGO — Forty-four pounds of pot — with a street value of more than $200,000 — and three guns were found in a Gage Park house on Thursday, the Cook County Sheriff's Department said.

Cook County Sheriff's deputies were serving an eviction notice at a home in the 5600 block of South California Avenue when they allegedly found pot on a bed in the basement. Officials said two men, Rosendo Diaz, 28, and Israel Fernandez, 29, were in the home; Fernandez was allegedly at the house to buy pot from Diaz.

A semi-automatic handgun, revolver and .357 caliber revolver and ammunition were also found in the house, the sheriff said.

Diaz was charged with armed violence, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, felony possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia. Fernandez was charged with attempted possession of cannabis.
