CHICAGO — Two people were killed and nine others were wounded in shootings over about nine hours Wednesday evening.

A 15-year-old boy was standing with another teen in the Gage Park neighborhood when he was gunned down Wednesday, police said.

The two teens were standing outside about 6:30 p.m. in the 5100 block of Washtenaw Avenue when a gunman walked up to them and opened fire, according to Officer Amina Greer, a police spokeswoman.

The 15-year-old was shot in his side and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition. He was pronounced dead just after 7 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Authorities identified the boy as Miguel Villegas, of the 5100 block of South Mozart Street. The teen standing with Villegas also was wounded. The boy, also 15, was shot in the shoulder and back and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious condition, Greer said.

No one was in custody Thursday morning, but police believe the shooting was gang-related.

Earlier Wednesday, a 20-year-old man was shot and killed about 2:20 p.m. in Roseland.

The man was sitting on a porch with friends when a gunman walked up and opened fire. The man was hit by bullets in the hip and back and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 6:09 p.m.

Officials identified the man as Jessie Clark, of the 11600 block of South Harvard Avenue.

Eight others, including a child, were injured in shootings across the South and West sides Wednesday, police said.

About 10:45 p.m., a 19-year-old man was shot in the 600 block of West 61st Street in the Englewood neighborhood. The man was sitting in his car when a shooter walked up to the car and opened fire. The man was shot in the chest and was taken in serious condition to Stroger Hospital

Two men were shot in East Garfield Park about 10:15 p.m. The men told police they heard shots and felt pain. A 30-year-old man is in stable condition at Stroger Hospital after being shot in the side. A 23-year-old was shot in the hip and was taken to Mount Sinai where his condition has also stabilized.

A 48-year-old man was shot in the arm and leg about 7:40 p.m. in the 6100 block of South California Avenue in Chicago Lawn. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious-to-critical condition, police said.

About 7:25 p.m., three people were wounded in a shooting in the 12300 block of South Emerald Avenue that police believe was gang-related. A 34-year-old man was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition after he was shot in the stomach. A 25-year-old woman was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital with a gunshot wound in the leg, and a 40-year-old man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center after he was shot in the leg.

A 9-year-old boy was critically wounded by gunfire about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, police said. The boy was shot as he rode in the back seat of a car in the 6700 block of South Evans Avenue and was taken to Comer Children's Hospital. A police source said the shooter was aiming at the boy's mother's boyfriend, a known gang member who was riding in the front seat of the car.
