ROGERS PARK — Two murals are set to be painted under the "L" viaduct this summer at Lunt and Glenwood avenues, according to the Rogers Park Business Alliance.
The alliance released renderings of the artwork on its Facebook page Tuesday. Painting is expected to begin in July.
Local artist Jeff Zimmermann was commissioned to paint a mural on the north side of Lunt at the viaduct. The rendering of his mural features a collage of different images including several human faces, a wolf head, a human heart pierced with an arrow, a head of cabbage and an ear of corn.
Brazilian artist Bruno Big was commissioned to paint the mural on the opposite wall, where the new Morse "L" station bike parking lot was constructed. His mural features three bicyclists formed by elongated, colored shapes, similar to stained glass, according to the rendering.
The murals were paid for through the Morse-Glenwood-Clark special tax district, also known as Special Service Area No. 24, according to the business alliance.
