CHICAGO — Police issued a community alert warning South Side residents of recent robberies in Armour Square and McKinley Park. 

In the incidents, police said five to six men approached victims and took property using force with blunt objects. In at least one of the incidents, a victim was battered by the robbers and hospitalized for injuries, said Officer Daniel O'Brien, a police spokesman. He did not give further details about the victim or the incident.

The robberies happened in the 2400 block of South Archer Avenue about 12:35 p.m. on May 24 and in the 2400 block of West 35th Street about 2:05 a.m. on May 26, according to the alert.

Cops described the robbers as five to six Hispanic men 20 to 26 years of age, 5-foot-4 to 5-foot-10 and weighing 140 to 180 pounds.
