LAKEVIEW — Goodbye, charred wood. Hello, pork.
The Piggery restaurant reopens Tuesday night, more than a year after its building at 1625 W. Irving Park Road shut down due to a fire in a basement laundry room. The sports bar and restaurant, which specializes in pork dishes, had a soft opening over the weekend and will serve its full, bacon-laden menu starting at 4 p.m.
Fans of The Piggery will be able to order the same pulled pork, pork BBQ ribs and pork chops that it once had, but the restaurant has also added some offerings, including sandwich wraps and pies cooked in its brand-new traditional pizza oven.
Later this year, partners Terry Lyons, Dave Friedrich and Ken Pospiech will be tearing down the building east of the restaurant to build a four-story building with expanded seating, apartments and a banquet hall. By next summer, the group hopes to open a rooftop bar on top of the west building.
The restaurant will be starting regular opening hours on Wednesday.
After Tuesday's opening at 4 p.m., the Piggery's hours will be 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. weekdays, 8 a.m. to 3 a.m. Saturdays and 8 a.m. to 2 a.m. Sundays.
