COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — The son of a South Side minister is facing felony gun charges after allegedly trying to bring an unloaded .22 caliber gun through security at Fenger High School on Wednesday.

Antoine Rogers, 16, allegedly had the gun in his backpack when he tried to pass through security.

Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Jacqueline Kwilos said that when Rogers was asked to put his backpack through a metal detector he feigned sickness, saying he had a stomach ache.

Security personnel then allegedly found the gun in his bag.

Rogers appeared in court Thursday wearing the juvenile detention center's navy blue sweatshirt and matching pants.

Cook County Judge Israel Desierto set Rogers' bail at $25,000.

"These are adult felony matters now," the judge said, cautioning the teen against missing any court dates if he's able to bond out.

A public defender representing Rogers said his client was a sophomore at Fenger and attended First Baptist Church, 935 E. 50th St., where his father was a minister.
