CHICAGO — Two men stabbed a man in the back on the Northwest Side Tuesday afternoon, including someone who supposedly was the victim's friend.

The man was stabbed in the back by a "so-called friend" and another man about 12:17 p.m. in the 3200 block of West Montrose Avenue, said Officer John Mirabelli, a Chicago Police Department spokesman, citing preliminary information.

It wasn't immediately clear if anyone was in custody.

The victim was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center in serious-to-critical condition, Chicago Fire Department spokesman Will Knight said. His age was not immediately available.
