NORTH PARK — Start your holiday weekend on Friday with a stroll through North Park Village Nature Center — just beware of the T. Rex.

Erth, an innovative theater company from Australia, brings its Dinosaur Petting Zoo to Chicago with a free performance at the Nature Center, 7 p.m., May 24, 5801 N. Pulaski Rd.

Life-like, large-scale human-powered puppets are at the center of the interactive show — equal parts spectacle and educational — which takes visitors on a journey back to prehistoric times.

As with any petting zoo, children, and adults, are encouraged to pet and "feed" the animals, which range from baby dinos to the giant Allosaur.

In addition to the performance at the Nature Center, Erth will bring its show to Millennium Park's Wrigley Square, 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., May 25-27, 205 W. Randolph St.
