CHICAGO — A man was fatally stabbed in North Lawndale in a domestic incident Thursday, police said.

Willie Wimberly, 35, of the 2100 block of West Warren Boulevard, was fatally stabbed in the chest, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Police responded about 8:45 a.m. to a call of a person stabbed at a residence in the 1900 block of South Spaulding Avenue, said Officer Daniel O'Brien, a police spokesman.

When officers arrived on scene, Chicago Fire Department paramedics were already treating Wimberly, who was then taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said.

Wimberly was pronounced dead at 9:25 a.m. at Mount Sinai, the medical examiner's office said.

Police are questioning an individual in the domestic incident, O'Brien said.
