CHICAGO — A 15-year-old boy is dead after he was shot in his head in Auburn Gresham.

Police were called to the scene of a shooting in the 8600 block of South Ashland Avenue about 9 p.m. Thursday, said Officer Amina Greer, a police spokeswoman.

Three men approached the boy, firing shots and hitting him in his head, Greer said.

The shooters the fled the scene, Greer said.

The teenager, identified as Marqui Thompson, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition and pronounced dead there at 9:35 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

In an unrelated shooting in West Pullman, two men were wounded as they stood outside in the 11700 block of South Lafayette Avenue about 2:15 a.m., Greer said.

A 22-year-old man was shot in his hand and a 19-year-old man was shot in his buttocks, Greer said.

The duo drove themselves to Roseland Community Hospital, where they were listed in "stable" condition.
