CHICAGO — Three men were wounded in two separate shootings on the city's South Side Wednesday night, police said.

Two men were hospitalized after they were shot about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Woodlawn neighborhood, according to Officer Ron Gaines, a police spokesman.

A 20-year-old man was shot in the arm and was taken to University of Chicago Hospital where his condition stabilized. A 19-year-old was shot in the mouth and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he was also listed in stable condition, Gaines said.

The two men were in the 6400 block of South Stony Island Avenue when a group approached them on foot, opened fire and fled.

About an hour earlier, a 30-year-old man was hospitalized after being shot in the lower back, Gaines said.

The man was shot in the 8300 block of South Wood Street in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood at 7:23 p.m. Wednesday. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where his condition stabilized, Gaines said.

Police did not have details of the shooting, and no one was in custody in connection with either shooting as of early Thursday morning.
