COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — Prosecutors said a suburban drug dealer killed a rival in 2011 because he overstepped drug territory and then laughed about it.

Deshawn Neal, 29, of suburban Bellwood, was charged with murder in the killing of 25-year-old James Wilson.

On Jan. 31, 2011, Neal and Wilson got into an argument about drug sale territory in the 600 block of North Monticello Avenue in Humboldt Park, Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Heather Kent said in a bond hearing Sunday.

Neal wanted Wilson to stop selling in that block, which Neal called his territory. When Wilson started laughing, Neal left the scene and returned with a gun a few minutes later, Kent said.

Neal pointed a gun at Wilson's head and fired the single shot that eventually killed him, the prosecutor said.
